another book by Ernest Cline
In March it was finally time to take some much needed holiday to get away from the winter darkness and jet of to Fuerte Ventura. I had saved Mr Cline’s second novel Armada just for this occasion and it did not disappoint
It’s just another day of high school for Zack Lightman. But the he glances out the classroom window and spots the flying saucer.
Zack thinks he’s going crazy.reads the back cover of Ernest Cline’s second novel Armada
After reading Ernest Cline’s début novel Ready Player One I knew his second novel would be another book to please the inner geek. Once again Mr Cline manages to pack a book with heaps of 80’s references and a story that twists and turns. This book is another MUST read.

The book is set in present day, and stars Zack Lightman a normal teenager who lost his father at a young age. Zack spends most of his time dreaming. Dreaming that the real world could be a little more like the countless science-fiction books, movies, and videogames he s spent his life consuming. Dreaming that one day, some fantastic, world-altering event will shatter the monotony of his humdrum existence and whisk him off on some grand space-faring adventure. But hey, there s nothing wrong with a little escapism, right?
In my view Mr Cline manages to build an appealing story with all its 80’s references to games and movies of my childhood. Armada might not have trigger the same nostalgic vibe as “Ready player one” did for me but it’s still a brilliant book to satisfy your inner child.
As with “Ready player one”, Mr Cline has sold the movie rights to Universal Pictures so here’s hoping that we will see a film adaptation on a screen in the not to distant future. However no dates has been set yet see imdb
